Five More Things About Me You Didn’t Know

I got tagged by Michael Stelzner (of Writing White Papers) to reveal five things about myself that you probably don’t know.

You can read his five deep, dark secrets here, though they’re not quite felony material (I liked the worms story, but c’mon Michael, there’s gotta be a dark underbelly there somewhere).

What Michael doesn’t know is:

I’ve already been tagged on my Engagement Principles blog, but can probably dig up five more things nobody ever wanted to know about me.

  1. I played Scrooge in my elementary school Christmas Pageant. Because the music teacher couldn’t differentiate between my brothers and I, they all got an “A” for my work.
  2. I write on a 12 year-old IBM keyboard that has outlasted four PCs (I used this on my other blog, but liked it so much for a writer’s blog I couldn’t pass it by).
  3. Like most writers, I’ve developed a writing routine that borders on the superstitious (the cup of hot tea has to be on the coaster to the right of the monitor, or the words won’t flow).
  4. Every few years I have to ruthlessly sort through my books, winnowing them down to a select handful. Otherwise, they take over my office and the garage.
  5. I’m a much better fly fisher than writer, but since I’ve been fishing far longer than I’ve been writing, I suppose that makes sense.

Who’s next?

How about the clever Ms. Kress at the new Isis Women’s blog? Then there’s Armand at the notebookism blog (celebrates the handwritten word, a lovely site), Kristen at inkthinker (a daily visit for me), and Russ at the Winehiker blog.

All come to me daily via my bloglines feed. I wait for their deepest, darkest revelations…

  1. Hey Tom - So you are part of a triplet group? Hmm. Interesting. - Mike

  2. Four brothers in total - three of us close enough to share my hard-earned “A.” As you can see, I still haven’t quite put it behind me.

  3. “Me”, “About Me”, “Look at Me”, “My blog”.

Come on, stop being so self-centered like so many other bloggers.

  6. Armin: a quick scan of my “recent posts” list suggests I do more than write about myself.

What have you done for the writer community lately?
