It's all about automation (and NO, I'm not talking about computer automation, per se) and, as you say, "working smarter". In the end, I believe, asking for pay raises only gets you so far, and it'll leave you more indebted to the client. Personally, using business systems, I've learned how to deal with clients very little. I let the market dictate what it will pay and I automate the process so that my workload to revenues graph is actually trending in the opposite direction. That IS interesting, Pete:

I also do kind of freelance work and often fell into the trap of working more and more and more because I thought I'd receive more that way. (How wrong I was.) It was just James D.
