The difference is that you have close to 20 years of experience with the quirks of one specific OS. As MS Windows has changed over the years, you have become used to them. Give Linux a chance. It can be quirky at times, but for the price, it does very well. When you have issues with your specific distro, be sure to check your flavor's forums. Lots of answers to be garnered there.
